“Who Killed Rev. Ndumia?” Gachagua Asks as Pressure Mounts Over Murder of PCEA Minister,Does He Know Something?
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised hard questions following the brutal murder of Rev. Julius Ngari Ndumia, the Parish Minister of PCEA Tubaga Parish under Nakuru East Presbytery, a killing that has shocked the Presbyterian community across Kenya and East Africa.
In a strongly worded statement, Gachagua described the murder as “cold blooded” and questioned whether the slain clergyman may have been targeted for speaking against corruption, poor governance, and human rights violations.
The former Deputy President also accused security agencies of failing to act with urgency, noting that several days after the murder, police had not made arrests or issued a detailed public statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the killing.
“Who killed Rev. Ndumia and why?” Gachagua asked, in remarks that are now fueling speculation and political debate online.
He further questioned whether the murder could be intended as a warning to outspoken clergy within the PCEA church, especially at a time when tensions between sections of the church and authorities have been growing.
Gachagua also linked the killing to what he described as increasing insecurity and intimidation targeting the church. He referenced previous incidents involving alleged attacks and disruptions at PCEA Mwiki Church and PCEA Kariobangi Church, claiming that church members have been living in fear amid rising cases of violence and break ins targeting places of worship.
The murder of Rev. Ndumia has reportedly caused panic among clergy members within the PCEA church, with many now demanding answers and stronger security guarantees from the government.
Gachagua has now called on National Police Service of Kenya and the Inspector General of Police to publicly explain the progress of investigations and assure church leaders of their safety.
He also urged PCEA church leadership to openly condemn what he termed as persecution and intimidation directed at the church.
As investigations continue, the killing has triggered wider national conversations around insecurity, freedom of worship, political tensions, and whether religious leaders critical of governance are becoming vulnerable targets.
For now, however, one question continues dominating public discussion:
Who killed Rev. Ndumia, and does Gachagua know something the public does not?
