Tehran Warns It Could Move to 90% Nuclear Grade Uranium Enrichment if Attacked Again by US or Israel
Iran has issued one of its strongest nuclear warnings yet, saying it could move toward 90 percent uranium enrichment if it faces another military attack from the United States or Israel.
The warning was delivered by Iranian parliamentary commission spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei, who stated that one of Tehran’s possible responses to future attacks “could be 90 percent enrichment,” adding that the issue could soon be reviewed in Parliament.
A 90 percent enrichment level is considered nuclear weapons grade uranium and is close to the purity generally associated with nuclear weapons development. Iran currently insists its nuclear program is for civilian and peaceful purposes, but Western governments and international watchdogs have repeatedly raised concerns over Tehran’s growing enrichment capabilities.
The threat comes amid escalating tensions following months of military confrontation, covert operations, sanctions, and airstrikes involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Recent attacks targeting Iranian military and nuclear related infrastructure have significantly intensified fears of a wider regional conflict.
Iran has repeatedly accused both Israel and the United States of attempting to cripple its nuclear program through assassinations, cyber attacks, sabotage operations, and direct military strikes targeting scientists, military commanders, and nuclear facilities.
The latest remarks also come during fragile negotiations aimed at preventing further escalation between Washington and Tehran. Reports indicate both sides have been discussing possible frameworks for a broader ceasefire and nuclear agreement, though major disagreements remain over uranium enrichment limits and sanctions.
Security analysts warn that if Iran formally moves toward 90 percent enrichment, it could trigger a major international crisis and dramatically increase fears that Tehran may be pursuing the capability to build a nuclear weapon.
Israel has long described a nuclear armed Iran as an existential threat and has repeatedly warned that it is prepared to take military action to stop Tehran from reaching weapons grade nuclear capability.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials argue that continued military pressure and attacks only strengthen hardline voices inside the country pushing for a more aggressive nuclear posture.
The latest warning now signals that the standoff over Iran’s nuclear program may be entering one of its most dangerous phases in years.
