Protester Shot Dead During Fuel Price Demonstrations as Anger Boils Over

Outrage and tension spread on Monday after a peaceful protester was reportedly shot dead during the ongoing nationwide demonstrations against rising fuel prices and the high cost of living.

Witnesses and videos circulating online claimed the victim was intentionally shot by a rogue police officer during chaotic confrontations between protesters and security officers. The incident reportedly happened as demonstrators gathered on the streets demanding accountability over soaring fuel and electricity prices.

The killing sparked immediate anger among protesters, with many accusing authorities of using excessive force against unarmed civilians taking part in the demonstrations.

The nationwide unrest has paralyzed transport in several towns across Kenya following the matatu strike and public outrage over the latest fuel price hikes. Protesters have blocked roads using burning tires and stones while anti-riot police continue engaging crowds in running battles.

The victim was later identified as a protester participating in demonstrations in Nakuru, where tensions remained high as police attempted to disperse crowds using teargas.

As news of the shooting spread, emotions continued to rise online, with many Kenyans demanding justice and calling for investigations into the actions of the officer involved.

The protests, which began early Monday, continue to spread across different parts of the country as frustration grows over the increasing cost of living and fuel prices..
