Breaking: Central Police Station OCS Arrested

A senior police officer attached to Central Police Station has reportedly been arrested and placed in custody following the release of dozens of suspects arrested during the ongoing fuel price protests.

Chief Inspector Dishen Angoya, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), was allegedly taken into custody at Lang’ata Police Station after reports emerged that 64 individuals arrested over public order offences linked to the demonstrations had been released.

The arrest comes at a time when authorities have intensified crackdowns on protesters participating in nationwide demonstrations sparked by rising fuel prices and the increasing cost of living.

Sources indicated that the released suspects had earlier been detained during operations targeting protesters accused of blocking roads, participating in unlawful gatherings, and causing public disturbances during the anti-fuel price protests.

The move has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans questioning why the officer was arrested while others claimed the released individuals were peaceful protesters swept up during chaotic police operations.

The ongoing protests have led to major confrontations between demonstrators and security officers in several towns across the country, including parts of Nairobi, Nakuru, Thika, Roysambu, and Ruiru.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the senior officer as investigations continue.
