Woman Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Younger Lover to Death in Eldoret

Police in Eldoret have arrested a 42-year-old woman following the fatal stabbing of her 29-year-old lover in the Kapchumba area, adding to a growing list of deadly domestic disputes being reported across the country.

According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred after a suspected altercation between the two lovers turned violent inside their residence. Authorities say the younger man sustained fatal stab wounds during the confrontation before residents alerted police.

Detectives arrested the woman shortly after the incident and launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing. The victim’s body was moved to a local mortuary pending postmortem examinations.

While investigators have not yet publicly revealed the exact trigger of the confrontation, early reports indicate the two had been involved in a romantic relationship despite their significant age difference.

The case has once again placed the spotlight on the rising number of deadly domestic violence incidents in Kenya, particularly in the North Rift region, where several fatal lover-related disputes have been recorded over the past few years.

Earlier this year, police in Eldoret investigated another domestic killing after a man reportedly died from stab wounds allegedly inflicted during a dispute with his partner in the Langas area.

Uasin Gishu County has repeatedly appeared in national headlines over violent relationship-related incidents, with experts pointing to financial stress, jealousy, alcohol abuse, unresolved conflicts, and toxic relationships as major contributing factors.

One of the country’s most high-profile domestic violence cases linked to the region was the killing of Agnes Tirop in 2021, where investigators alleged prolonged relationship conflict and violence before her death.

Security analysts argue that many couples ignore early warning signs of violent relationships until disputes escalate beyond control. In many cases, neighbours later reveal there had been frequent fights, threats, or prior assaults before the fatal incidents occurred.

Police are expected to question witnesses and forensic experts as they piece together the final moments before the Kapchumba killing.

The suspect remains in custody as detectives prepare files for possible prosecution.
